Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers
Publication Date: February 2nd 2016
Genres: YA, Fantasy, Romance
In the kingdom of Lovero, nine rival Families of assassins lawfully kill people for a price. As a highly skilled member of one of these powerful clans, seventeen-year-old Lea Saldana has always trusted in the strength of her Family. Until she awakens to find them murdered and her home in flames. The Da Vias, the Saldanas’ biggest enemy, must be responsible—and Lea should have seen it coming. But her secret relationship with the Da Vias’ son, Val, has clouded her otherwise killer instinct—and given the Da Vias more reason than ever to take her Family down.
Racked with guilt and shattered over Val’s probable betrayal, Lea sets out to even the score, with her heart set on retaliation and only one thought clear in her mind: make the Da Vias pay.
With shades of The Godfather and Romeo and Juliet, this richly imagined fantasy from debut author Sarah Ahiers is a story of love, lies, and the ultimate vengeance.
I received this book for free from the publisher or author in exchange for an honest review.
This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Why should you read this book?
Well, ahem… let me give you a few reasons.
- Oleander Saldana aka Lea
She’s one bad-ass chick alright. I would love to see her kick ass alongside Celaena Sardothien, what a team they’d make. Huzzah for bad-ass female main characters that are assassin’s!
- There’s a sweet, sweet, slow romance on the side-ish
Yes yes, there is a romance! It’s really sweet and I loved it so much! No not with the guy from the blurb and no it never turns into a love triangle. So YAY! And no insta-love either. DOUBLE YAY!
- The world-building is fantastic.
I was so fascinated by this world and it’s history, politics, religion,… everything! I wants more!!
- A lot of ass-kicking action
It’s sure to keep your attention, for reals.
Pick it up if you can and read it asap! Cause’s like Mr. Gif says, it’s damn good stuff. Full review to come closer to release!
